The Roy Morgan Readership poll has outlined some “strong performances” by publications produced by Universal Media Company.
Home Design magazine readership is up year-on-year to 116,000, according to the June 2018 gures released on 10 August. Home Design magazine is still AHEAD of:
• Belle magazine • Real Living magazine
“While our focus will always remain on our own brand and mission — targeting people with home projects — we are pleased to be out-performing some of these other, more generalist brands in the readership game,” says publisher and head of digital, Janice Williams.
Exclusive Focus on People with Home Projects
Home Design uses content and distribution strategies to exclusively target a market of people with home projects:
In regards to content strategy, the publication serves this market with a mix of project details, supplier information and Australian references that are relevant when a consumer is undertaking a home project. “We don’t do recipes or travel — this is nice if you want a relaxing read but if you are in a phase of project research, you want to know what’s on-trend and where to find it,” says Janice.
In regards to distribution strategy, the publication uses all the typical outlets but supplements this by marketing directly to the “project research” market. By targeting consumers with intention, we are able to reach the most active, engaged and high- spending segment of the market.
Universal Media Co — the company behind Home Design magazine — estimates that the audience of Australians engaged with projects grows by 30-35,000 consumers per month. “These consumers are actively refurbishing homes, renovating or redecorating,” says Janice.
June 2018 Roy Morgan Figures
The June 2018 Roy Morgan Readership figures were positive for Australian magazine consumption in general. Readership of print magazines was up 0.5 per cent, or 65,000, from a year ago, with more than 13.6 million Australians aged 14+ (67.3 per cent) reading magazines. These are the latest findings from the Roy Morgan Single Source survey of 50,035 Australians aged 14+ in the 12 months to June 2018.
