Hawthorn House by Edition Office & Flux is announced as the OVERALL WINNER  in the  Grand Designs Australia Magazine  House of the Year Awards 21/22

Brought to you by Cosh Living and Rylock Windows & Doors

The Grand Designs Australia Magazine House of the Year Awards, brought to you by Cosh Living and Rylock Windows & Doors, has been won by Hawthorn House by Edition Office and Flux.

The brief for Hawthorn House was for a private yet open house with multiple living areas. Enveloped by greenery, Hawthorn House is defined by a pair of heavily textured ‘concrete shrouds’, each with its own proportion and personality, linked together by a walkway and courtyard garden. This project not only demonstrates a brilliant client outcome, but achieves in terms of architectural values. “It is stunning and we are proud to have Hawthorn House as our winner,” said Editor of Grand Designs Australia Magazine April Ossington.

The inaugural Grand Designs Australia Magazine House of the Year Awards set out to achieve three things:

  1. To put the spotlight on residential projects
  2. To showcase those projects to an audience of prospective future clients
  3. To demonstrate how positive collaborations between architects and builders during the process can contribute to great client outcomes.

The winner, people’s choice winner, and all finalists feature in a special 40-page supplement in Grand Designs Australia Magazine Vol 10 No 6 which is on sale now. Awards were presented at a cocktail-style function at Cosh Living Melbourne.

We would also like to honour Crackenback House by Casey Brown Architecture and Bellevarde Constructions, which won the People’s Choice Award from the Grand Designs Australia audience vote.
