Judges Announced for 2027 House of the Year Awards
Four leading figures from Australia’s architecture and design industries have been announced as judges for the 2027 Grand Designs Australia House of the Year Awards.
Bringing decades of experience, this year’s panel will assess Australia’s most spectacular residential architecture, recognising homes that embrace originality and craftsmanship.
The 2027 panel comprises Anthony Burke, Grand Designs Australia TV Host and Editor-at-Large; Annie Tennant, Director of Design and Place at Placemaking NSW; Dr Timothy Moore, Curator of Contemporary Design and Architecture at the National Gallery of Victoria and Co-Founder of Sibling Architecture; and Tamara Veltre, Co-Founder of Breathe Architecture.
Entering his fourth year of hosting Grand Designs Australia, Anthony Burke has experience in curating coastal retreats, heritage renovations and experimental small-footprint homes. He is a Professor of Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney and host of weekly podcast, Anthony Burke’s By Design. With an eye for complementary materials, colour palettes and textural accents, he is fascinated by the role of architecture and design in shaping our lives.
Annie Tennant, Director of Design and Place at Placemaking NSW, brings more than 25 years of experience in property, construction, design and development. She supports the NSW government in complex revitalisation projects, privileging sustainability, culture and heritage in her work.
As Curator of Contemporary Design and Architecture at the National Gallery of Victoria, Dr Timothy Moore has extensive experience in civic architecture. He has received several accolades for his work at Sibling Architecture, has served on the juries of the World Architectural Festival: Completed Villa category and The Age: Melbourne’s Most Beautiful Homes, and is Associate Dean (Engagement) in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Monash University.
Tamara Veltre, Co-Founder of Breathe Architecture, has more than two decades of experience in leading the company’s business operations, strategy and culture. With prior experience as the design director of her own fashion label, Lulamae, she brings a deep understanding of materiality, colour, texture and detail.

Winners will be announced in April 2027 across a number of categories including Best Small New Home (under 200m2), Best Large New Home, Best Renovations, and special awards such as Best Interior, Best Energy-Efficient Home and the People’s Choice Award.
