Coronavirus lockdown inspires home improvement, as consumer spending rebounds

The home sector is a stand-out in this commentary on CAB and ABS data from May 2020.  While Food and alcohol card spending turned higher than a year ago, while spending on household furnishings and equipment was up by 53 per cent as people used more time at home as an opportunity for home improvement. While arts, hospitality and travel struggle, it is clear that we have an edge in the home market.
